Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information zappenglish.com and ingles.fm collect, why, who else handles it, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it. (Versión en español.)

Who we are

Both sites are run by Zapp! English. If you have a question about your personal information, or want to use any of the rights below, write to info@zappenglish.com.

The short version

• We never sell your information, and we never share it for anyone else’s use.
• We use no advertising or remarketing cookies.
• We measure visits with Google Analytics. In Europe and the UK we do so only if you accept; everywhere else you can say no at any time.
• We email you only if you join one of our email lists, and every email has a link to leave.
• Our courses are sold through Gumroad. Your payment details never reach us.
• You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it or delete it.

When you visit the sites

The sites and their audio files are delivered by Cloudflare, our web host. Like any web host, it receives your internet address and the type of browser you use, so that it can send you the pages and protect the sites from attacks. It also tells our pages which country you are in. We use that only to decide which cookie rule applies to you (see below) and, if you join an email list, to note your country. We do not keep it.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages and episodes people find most useful, for our own reports. When it runs, it records the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine or a link), whether you played an audio file or used a button on the page, your type of device and browser, and your approximate location. It stores a random identifier in a cookie in your browser, so that it can tell one visit from another. Google says it does not store or log internet addresses. Google keeps the detailed records for 2 months, and the information linked to that identifier for up to 14 months; our reports show only totals.

Where it runs depends on where you are:

• In the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the UK and Switzerland (and Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man), Google Analytics does not run, and nothing is sent to Google, until you click “Accept all” in our cookie banner.
• Everywhere else, it runs unless you click “Deny all”.
• Wherever you are, once you click “Deny all” it stops, and nothing more is sent to Google.

You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page. Your choice is kept in your browser for a year. For every visitor, our pages tell Google that advertising use is refused: we do not use Google Analytics for advertising. Every cookie we use is listed in our cookie policy.

Our email lists

If you join one of our email lists, we ask for your first name and your email address, and we note the country you signed up from (from your connection, never your precise location), so that we can send some emails only to people in particular countries. You confirm that you want to join by clicking a link in an email. We keep and send the lists with Brevo, a French email service. We use your details only to send you our emails, and we keep them until you leave the list. You can leave at any time with the link at the foot of every email, or by writing to us.

Buying a course

Our courses are sold through Gumroad, which runs the checkout, takes your payment (by card, PayPal or the other methods it offers) and sends your receipt and download link. Your card and payment details go to Gumroad and its payment processors, never to us. Gumroad shares with us the name and email address you give at checkout, your country and what you bought, so that we can deliver the course, help you with your downloads and handle any refund. We keep these records for our accounts, for as long as the law requires. Our shop pages are run by Gumroad, and its own privacy policy and cookie settings apply there; we have connected our Google Analytics to them so that we can see how many visits end in a purchase.

If you bought from our old shop, before September 2026, we still hold the record of that order: your name, email address, country and what you bought. We keep it so that we can help if you ask us about an old purchase, and for our accounts. Write to us if you would like a copy, or would like it deleted where the law allows.

When you contact us

If you send us a message through the form in our help centre or by email, we use your name, email address and message only to answer you and follow up. The form is run by Freshdesk, a help-desk service. We keep the conversation for as long as we need it to help you.

Who else handles your information

We share personal information only with the services that help us run the sites, and only for the purposes above:

• Cloudflare, our web host (United States)
• Google, for Google Analytics (United States)
• Brevo, for our email lists (France)
• Gumroad, for the shop (United States)
• Freshdesk, for the help-desk form (United States)

Some of these companies are in the United States. When information leaves the European Economic Area or the UK, they rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Our legal reasons

In the European Union and the UK, the law asks us to say on what basis we use personal information. We use Google Analytics and send our emails because you agreed to it, and you can withdraw that at any time. We use your order details to deliver what you bought, and keep them because accounting law requires it. We answer your messages, and deliver and protect the sites, because we have a legitimate interest in doing so.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it or send it to you in a format you can reuse. You can object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time with “Cookie settings” or the link in our emails. Write to info@zappenglish.com and we will answer within a month. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live; for example, in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos; in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your information or share it for anyone else’s use.
• We don’t use advertising or remarketing cookies.
• We don’t make automated decisions about you.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we change the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what we do with your information, we explain it here.
